2 Kings‬ ‭17‬:‭32‬-‭34‬ ‭‬‬

“These new residents worshiped the Lord, but they also appointed from among themselves all sorts of people as priests to offer sacrifices at their places of worship. And though they worshiped the Lord, they continued to follow their own gods according to the religious customs of the nations from which they came. And this is still going on today. They continue to follow their former practices instead of truly worshiping the Lord and obeying the decrees, regulations, instructions, and commands he gave the descendants of Jacob, whose name he changed to Israel.”

2 Kings‬ ‭17‬:‭32‬-‭34‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Romans chapter one states that if he wicked knew God but refused to worship him as God and so, thinking themselves to be wise they became utter fools. Here we see the outcome of this mindset. I’m t was not as if they didn’t acknowledge that God was there, not as if they didn’t worship him. But they didn’t acknowledge who he was or worship him as he commanded to be worshipped. This put them at odds with him and placed them in a position to be exiled. Perhaps worse than this, they did vile and evil things I. Their so called wisdom. They even sacrificed their children in service or their idolatry. Some might make the mistake of believing that because they have a relationship with God, they are immune to his judgment, but this is obliviously not the case. This half hearted worship actually makes a fertile breeding ground for all sorts of wickedness and one’s ultimate destruction. The question we must ask is not “do we worship God?” But rather “how do we worship God?”
