““But now we have been given a brief moment of grace, for the Lord our God has allowed a few of us to survive as a remnant. He has given us security in this holy place. Our God has brightened our eyes and granted us some relief from our slavery. For we were slaves, but in his unfailing love our God did not abandon us in our slavery. Instead, he caused the kings of Persia to treat us favorably. He revived us so we could rebuild the Temple of our God and repair its ruins. He has given us a protective wall in Judah and Jerusalem.”
Ezra 9:8-9 NLT
We have all been called out of something. But this isn’t a random something. It is not self defined. It has a purpose and an intent behind it. When God saves us, it is intentful, purposeful, direct and personal. We are not cogs in his giant machine. He has a plan and design for how each and everyone of us fits into his will. Too many Christians leave their previous lives of sin and debauchery, only to quickly find themselves there again. This is because they were not following Christ upon their exodus. They were never running toward something but instead were only running away. We must always be running toward God’s purposes. We must always find our fulfillment in his desires for us and begin to make them into our sincere desires. This is the crucial step in maturity that will keep us coming back to him and on his straight and narrow path. We should seek out his will and conform ourselves to it. Then we will become stalwart pillars in God’s kingdom.
