“By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.”
2 Peter 1:3-4 NLT
Part of being a disciple of Christ is the acceptance that believers have everything necessary for living a godly life. This is often times overlooked or completely ignored because despite the fact of having all we need, it is also difficult. Many refuse to grow into maturity by continuing the same blame shifting that Adam perpetrated in Eden. Instead of Adam taking ownership for his crime, he chose to blame God for an inadequate gift in his partner. Believers don’t have that luxury in Jesus. Between Jesus and the Holy Spirit, and the Scripture and the Body of Believers, we have no excuse to blame shift when responsibilities or opportunities come our way. This prevailing trope of human interaction was wrong then and it is still wrong. This in Jesus their is great victory to overcome any of life’s difficulties with poise and nobility, no matter how challenging they are. The first trick in doing so, is acceptance that we his is the truth. We must acceptance Christ’s victory to have it.
