EPHESIANS‬ ‭5:21-28‬ ‬‬

“And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church. As the church submits to Christ, so you wives should submit to your husbands in everything. For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault. In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself.”

Ephesians‬ ‭5:21-28‬ ‭NLT‬‬

One of the most common errors present in Christian circles is the idea that human society is formed in the parent/child relationship. Though it is true that it is of utmost importance to maintain, and do it well, the relationship of most importance is marriage relationship. Whereas a marriage relationship has a carnal externality, in that it until death, the child/parent is meant to be left as one transitions into being ready to care for others. The parental relationship demonstrates the functioning of the Trinity, but marriage demonstrates the essence of it. In this vain, it’s no wonder that in God’s economy economy, marriage should always come first to having children. Marriage is perfect breeding ground by which the function of submission can be understood and demonstrates so that it can be cultivated into fruit that eventually cultivated more imago dei. This is why the marriage relationship, it’s function and it’s offspring must be protected. To understand it, is to understand God better. Practically, to understand God better is to understand oneself better. To understand oneself better is yo understand others. This is why it is so sad that marriage is treated so casually by todays Christian’s. It’s sacramental nature should not be understated.
