“God has now revealed to us his mysterious will regarding Christ—which is to fulfill his own good plan. And this is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earth. Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan.”
Ephesians 1:9-11 NLT
Though many people put faith in God’s power, they don’t put faith in his plans. They wax on about his work on the cross and his time spent on earth performing miracles, but they completely avoid his impending return as fairytale. For Christians, this element, is as much a part of the story as any other part. The resurrection is only the climax, but it is not the end. Many believe but stop at the cross, at best. Or at worse, at the virgin birth on Christmas. But the story of God in humanity is a full and holistic experience that we are actively living. The table of contents, the Bible, shows us that there is much more to invest in and be blessed by if we rise to submit to its entirety. Sadly many Christians will not ever glean their full inheritance in this life because they were shortsighted about how God would prepare them for the next. As believers, there are many things you can do to prepare properly and experience God fully, but they all start with more life emphasis on knowing scripture, doctrine, and community.
