1 CHRONICLES‬ ‭16‬:‭23‬-‭36‬ ‭‬‬

“Let the whole earth sing to the Lord! Each day proclaim the good news that he saves. Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does. Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! He is to be feared above all gods. The gods of other nations are mere idols, but the Lord made the heavens! Honor and majesty surround him; strength and joy fill his dwelling. O nations of the world, recognize the Lord, recognize that the Lord is glorious and strong. Give to the Lord the glory he deserves! Bring your offering and come into his presence. Worship the Lord in all his holy splendor. Let all the earth tremble before him. The world stands firm and cannot be shaken. Let the heavens be glad, and the earth rejoice! Tell all the nations, “The Lord reigns!” Let the sea and everything in it shout his praise! Let the fields and their crops burst out with joy! Let the trees of the forest sing for joy before the Lord, for he is coming to judge the earth. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. Cry out, “Save us, O God of our salvation! Gather and rescue us from among the nations, so we can thank your holy name and rejoice and praise you.” Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, who lives from everlasting to everlasting! And all the people shouted “Amen!” and praised the Lord.”

1 Chronicles‬ ‭16‬:‭23‬-‭36‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The focus of worship is prevalent in this chapter, as is the scope of it. The first thing to notice is that worship is not a relegated experience. It is not to be accessed by any single class or caste of the citizens of the Earth. Here we see that this is the scope of God’s intent. Everyone is to be involved in it. The intent is explicit. The works of God are to be published among the nations so that all may view him as the rightful supreme authority. And this is in conflict and contrast to the so-called gods of other lands, who are mere idols in his presence. One might even call them idles because they lack any dynamism when their ontology is compared. This is the magnitude of God’s intent for his own glory. When we forget that the majority of Jewish people today is only a fraction of the world’s population, but the God they introduced is the most recognized God across time and boundaries, it is both clear and astounding how valid this form of worship is. Especially considering that the world seemed to mostly start pantheistic in belief. This is the outlined battle. The scripture isn’t merely a testament about God, but it is a call to follow him in spite of the gods of our nations and our heritage.

Worship’s Scope: Worship is intended for everyone, not limited to a specific class or caste.

God’s Intent: God’s works should be shared globally to establish Him as the supreme authority, contrasting with idols.

Worship’s Significance: The widespread recognition of the God of the Bible, despite the Jewish people being a minority, highlights the validity of this form of worship.
