“At mealtime Boaz called to her, “Come over here, and help yourself to some food. You can dip your bread in the sour wine.” So she sat with his harvesters, and Boaz gave her some roasted grain to eat. She ate all she wanted and still had some left over. When Ruth went back to work again, Boaz ordered his young men, “Let her gather grain right among the sheaves without stopping her. And pull out some heads of barley from the bundles and drop them on purpose for her. Let her pick them up, and don’t give her a hard time!” So Ruth gathered barley there all day, and when she beat out the grain that evening, it filled an entire basket. She carried it back into town and showed it to her mother-in-law. Ruth also gave her the roasted grain that was left over from her meal.”
Ruth 2:14-18 NLT
The proverbs note that the generous will prosper, and those who refresh others will be refreshed. There is a right way to be rich, and that is to give freely and generously. Here, Boaz exhibits this trait. It should be noted that it was not a secret trait. It wasn’t a hidden truth about him. There is no record of protest or concern from any of his workers. It seems that Boaz was a man of character, and this aspect of his character was merely on display. It seemed to catch no one off guard. It seemed to be baked into the lore of his wealth and esteem. There are many who feel burdened by the sharing of wealth and blessing, but the same proverb which tells us to be generous also warns us that being stingy leads to the loss of everything. In this way, generosity is not only an exhibition of God’s goodness but also utilitarian. There is no downside to the wise man. We ought to look to Boaz as we come into wealth. Our fortune should be seen as a blessing to all. It should not be seen as a burden to hoard and keep from others. When we have an abundance, we ought to use it to display God’s loving character. This is the proper use of wealth. This is the proper attitude of the wealthy.

Benefits of Generosity: Generosity is not only a reflection of God’s goodness but also beneficial for the giver, while stinginess can lead to loss.
