PSALM‬ ‭148‬:‭1‬-‭14‬ ‭‬‬

“Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens! Praise him from the skies! Praise him, all his angels! Praise him, all the armies of heaven! Praise him, sun and moon! Praise him, all you twinkling stars! Praise him, skies above! Praise him, vapors high above the clouds! Let every created thing give praise to the Lord, for he issued his command, and they came into being. He set them in place forever and ever. His decree will never be revoked. Praise the Lord from the earth, you creatures of the ocean depths, fire and hail, snow and clouds, wind and weather that obey him, mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars, wild animals and all livestock, small scurrying animals and birds, kings of the earth and all people, rulers and judges of the earth, young men and young women, old men and children. Let them all praise the name of the Lord. For his name is very great; his glory towers over the earth and heaven! He has made his people strong, honoring his faithful ones— the people of Israel who are close to him. Praise the Lord!”

Psalms‬ ‭148‬:‭1‬-‭14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Many Christians have so idea as to the purpose of their creation. They erroneously muse that it is to be self subservient. They believe it is to live a life that satiates their own desires. They live to actuate their own potential and see these desires through. Those people, often quickly, find that their lives become devoid of meaning. This is because the purpose of life is to praise God. This is accomplished by being oriented toward him and purposes in daily living. It is also accomplished by having a mind centered on him and his thoughts within our thought life. Indeed, of all creatures, great and small, humans are the ones with the most responsibility to practice such a task. Whereas other creatures praise God by fulfilling their created functions, we also praise him with our thoughts. This is because we are blessed with to be made in his image, which is capable of logic and rhetoric. Indeed all of creation is to fall in the shadow of our praise as we lead the way to God. But it is also in this context that Jesus notes that even rocks would sing praises of we did not acknowledge him. One could indeed say that even humans would sing praise if angels would not. No matter the nobility of creatures, all should bow before our God. This is the purpose of all life and its direction. Let everything that has breath to do so, praise the Lord.
