PSALM‬ ‭146‬:‭1‬-‭10‬ ‭‬‬

“Praise the Lord! Let all that I am praise the Lord. I will praise the Lord as long as I live. I will sing praises to my God with my dying breath. Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there. When they breathe their last, they return to the earth, and all their plans die with them. But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the Lord their God. He made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. He keeps every promise forever. He gives justice to the oppressed and food to the hungry. The Lord frees the prisoners. The Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord lifts up those who are weighed down. The Lord loves the godly. The Lord protects the foreigners among us. He cares for the orphans and widows, but he frustrates the plans of the wicked. The Lord will reign forever. He will be your God, O Jerusalem, throughout the generations. Praise the Lord!”

Psalms‬ ‭146‬:‭1‬-‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Because of the nature of Christianity, blessing to God’s people is assured. It is a fact that those who sincerely follow Christ bring his blessings upon any who are around them. We need only to look to world history to see that where a biblical worldview is faithfully maintained, there follows every kind of social justice, institutions of knowledge, and societal reform. This is because Christians possess two things necessary to build a society. First, they possess God’s favor upon them. Second they possess a genuine favor for those that surround them. This is why it is good to keep any developing system stocked with them. This is why every president has had pastors as advisors. It’s the reason why Daniel was the advisor of many kings. But this can also lead to them becoming spoiled. As they see a secular power applied daily, they can easily mistake fame, for tune and reach for real power. Those in power possess something true, yet cosmically small. An immature believer could easily switch loyalty from God to this type of power as Eve did by seeing that the fruit was good to look at. David, was the most powerful man in Israel. Yet he knew that true power is worthless compared to God. As our faith brings us in contact with this world’s strongest principalities, we should remember this. It is God who has real power. It is by this power that any are saved and we should not be impressed by any solution that the world can offer, as in comparison.
