PSALM‬ ‭126‬:‭1‬-‭6‬ ‭

“When the Lord brought back his exiles to Jerusalem, it was like a dream! We were filled with laughter, and we sang for joy. And the other nations said, “What amazing things the Lord has done for them.” Yes, the Lord has done amazing things for us! What joy! Restore our fortunes, Lord, as streams renew the desert. Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest.”

Psalms‬ ‭126‬:‭1‬-‭6‬ ‭NLT

“Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy!” This sentiment may seem counterintuitive to many but it does bear a certain logic. Planting is hard work. It requires one to project and envision the future of something in faith. This type of faith often requires a great amount of preparation as well as investment. It is good once your investment has paid off and harvest has been reaped for the first time. But the initial process is the hardest because you are unsure of many factors and what that that pay off might be. Aside from procuring the proper seed. You must find the proper environment. It must have been good soil, enough light and enough water. It often will have to be tamed. This is done through great toil. It can be back breaking work and requires a massive amount of sweat equity before any kind of pay off. Yet if done properly, the harvest brings joy, but also justification for the validity of the process. From this, nuanced systems and mechanisms can be built to ensure future success. A plant can become a vineyard and a vineyard a product, and a product, a legacy. But this takes time and toil. We must be willing to cry difficult tears now, so that you can cry joyful tears later.
