PSALM‬ ‭93‬:‭1‬-‭5‬ ‭

“The Lord is king! He is robed in majesty. Indeed, the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength. The world stands firm and cannot be shaken. Your throne, O Lord, has stood from time immemorial. You yourself are from the everlasting past. The floods have risen up, O Lord. The floods have roared like thunder; the floods have lifted their pounding waves. But mightier than the violent raging of the seas, mightier than the breakers on the shore— the Lord above is mightier than these! Your royal laws cannot be changed. Your reign, O Lord, is holy forever and ever.”

Psalms‬ ‭93‬:‭1‬-‭5‬ ‭NLT

Psalm 93 is a psalm of perspective. Pure and simply, it outlines God’s sovereignty and grandeur against the strongest thing man could access at the time, the ocean. Here it presents the shocking, if not awe inspiring truth, that God is larger and fiercer than even that. One of the most important pieces to maintaining a healthy outlook in life is this understanding that God is with us. Not simply a god, but the God. The God who is larger and greater than the unstoppable ocean is the same God who stands behind my every action. He is the same God who walks before me in conflict. He is the same God who leads me through the storm. Many Christians believe in the doctrine of salvation but without the understanding of its foundations. If God is only willing, there is nothing that he can’t do. And God is always willing to leave a door open, sometimes a miraculous one, for his creatures to live in his blessings. But moreso than his willingness, he is a being of utter capacity. Everything he could accomplish is imminent, waiting only for his timing. Yet, in the same vain, he is predictable like the ocean. His waves do not surprise those who pay him the proper attention. Those who respect him need not die at his sea.
