““At that time Michael, the archangel who stands guard over your nation, will arise. Then there will be a time of anguish greater than any since nations first came into existence. But at that time every one of your people whose name is written in the book will be rescued. Many of those whose bodies lie dead and buried will rise up, some to everlasting life and some to shame and everlasting disgrace. Those who are wise will shine as bright as the sky, and those who lead many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever. But you, Daniel, keep this prophecy a secret; seal up the book until the time of the end, when many will rush here and there, and knowledge will increase.””
Daniel 12:1-4 NLT
It is a common thing amongst the western world to shun prophecy. Instead we prefer to tinker with knowledge and try to reveal everything we can know about what is in front of us, down past the atom itself. We feel that this gives us a level of control of the future. This is for many a control that seemingly outweighs the knowledge given by revelation and accessed by faith. Yet this is not to be our primary source of faith as Christians. As believers, we know that knowledge is merely an outworking of revelation. Science is a blessing in a world that God has chosen to reveal to us. Our knowledge only takes us so far without revelation. In uncertain times, such as all generations face, knowing that God has a plan that is perfectly executed, is far more important than understanding every facet and detail of it. Because he is a good God who loves us, we can walk freely into it with certainty of our fate. Here it is revealed that there is ultimately justice for the faithful. Here is revealed that there is ultimately justice for the innocent, and judgment for the wicked. Even in death, there is no escape from God. Tribulation is judgment and it comes for all. Those who stand, only stand with God, and they stand forever in him.
