HEBREWS‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬-‭6‬ ‬‬

“And so, dear brothers and sisters who belong to God and are partners with those called to heaven, think carefully about this Jesus whom we declare to be God’s messenger and High Priest. For he was faithful to God, who appointed him, just as Moses served faithfully when he was entrusted with God’s entire house. But Jesus deserves far more glory than Moses, just as a person who builds a house deserves more praise than the house itself. For every house has a builder, but the one who built everything is God. Moses was certainly faithful in God’s house as a servant. His work was an illustration of the truths God would reveal later. But Christ, as the Son, is in charge of God’s entire house. And we are God’s house, if we keep our courage and remain confident in our hope in Christ.”

Hebrews‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬-‭6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

As the author of Hebrews deconstructs a Jewish perspective on greatness, to outline who Christ is, he naturally comes to the Law and to Moses. Most religions rest on this point. If they acknowledge Christ, they see him as subservient to a greater and transcendent set of ideals. They see him as a harbinger or works based philosophy. The idea is that he shows us the way in which we can attain our own salvation. Being that Jesus claimed to be the Jewish messiah, it would seem this was his function. But just as Godhood and humanity must coexist, so must the fact that he is the creator and the incarnated as well. Whereas Moses describes the law, Jesus prescribed it. Whereas Moses fell short of completing its saving work for his people, Christ finished it upon the cross. The law may come through Moses, but not because of him. Due to this fact, Jesus cannot be disentangled from the law, but he also cannot be bound to it. We might say that he is a more foundational law unto himself. He is a greater law upon which all other laws must stand for their validity. Many Christians simply do not think of him with such regard. They treat him and the law as equals. However, the law is his child as well.
