Our physical bodies are a gift. We are not gnostics who believe that this body is a curse that has trapped the spark of life within us. However, this gift, though not a curse, has been cursed. It has been given supremacy in our lives and hearts and minds. What was given as a gift to navigate our finite and dependent nature has been turned, by our rebellion, into a constant reminder of how insignificant we are apart from God. God never intended this use, or this message. It doesn’t have to be. In Christ, the body is a blessing again. It is the hands and feet of God in a finite world. But until God replaces the ones we have with upgrades, it will always try to return it’s broken ways. We must focus our bodies on the hope they can have in Christ. In him, there is no slavery to them. In him, there is no addiction to sex, drugs, food or other. In him there is value beyond how I look, or my physical ability or features. Christ redeems all of us. The body as well. We must give that to him.
